Tintin collector Dean Slone has a 33" x 25" promotional poster, and he has this question about it:

" I have a poster of The Black Island (copyright) Herge Moulinsart. Published by Bulfinch Press / Little, Brown and Company, Boston, Toronto, London. It measures 33" x 25" and depicts Tintin and Snowy in a boat going to Black Island. Ranko is in the rocks looking down on them. I would think this a common poster BUT it is not for the following reasons.

1. Tintin is dressed as in the 1938 1st Edition

2. The boat is plain and brown with red bottom

3. Boat motor looks like a 1940's trolling motor.

I would like to send you a picture of the poster and ask you if you can help me find out what it was for. I believe it was probably to announce the release of the English version of the book. But why use old graphics?"

If you have any ideas on this unusual, contact Mr. Slone at daslone[at]saber.net

Thanks to Mr. Slone to publish this great looking Tintin promo art.
