Created in the era that also saw Dolly Parton and Raquel Welch near the zenith of their pop-culture popularity, Power Girl is Kara Zor-L (aka Karen Starr) who first appeared in All Star Comics #58 (January/February 1976 issue). Writer Gerry Conway and Ric Estrada and Wally Wood are credited as bringing the heroine to life.
