Patrick Alexander: Dark Wraith

Dark Horse Presents #2, June 2011 From Dark Horse Comics

I don't know if the DC Comics attorneys have taken note, but Alexander's Batman parody is mean-spirited (and funny), featuring a costumed vigilante who does not pursue any sort of actual justice except gag-payoffs

The cartoons are loose and goofy like a combination Looney Tunes and Mad Magazine, with a touch of Harvey Kurtzman. Batman, aka 'Dark Wraith' literally throws Granny off a cliff in this brief 8-page adventure that is an assemblage of single and double-page skits, not an actual story. The deeds of this cartooned Batman would be fitting for the Joker in a deadly serious mainstream Batman comics (blowing up birds, stopping a mugging to then turn around and mug the victim after knocking out her assailant, etc.,) but here it is just anarchic 'fun.'

Though it is pretty rough humor, it hearkens backwards to less politically correct times: I mean, when was the last time kids played marbles?
