There was an emphasis on the "Dark Knight Detective" aspect of Batman during the 1970s issues, and Bob Haney's scripts seem to have been influenced by the crime and police dramas of American TV of that era, along with such obvious pop-culture detritus like the Dirty Harry movies. While still featuring a punch-throwing Batman, the deductive maneuvers and procedures of solving puzzles had more prominence.
