Photo: Hull Street near Richmond Virginia

This is an old section of Hull street (about 4 blocks from crossing the James River into Richmond City proper). If you keep following this road Westward, the buildings slowly get newer and the conditions better: eventually you come to the current 'modern' phase of housing and shopping which is newly painted, in good condition, and infiltrated with people spending money. But in this photo, which is a scant few miles away from the newer areas, you see the droppings left from an earlier "boom phase" which is now populated by boarded up store fronts and billboards espousing that the denizens should say no to drugs and rape.
