The number of bridges criss-crossing the sky makes it seem like either a warren of concrete over ones head, or, in the case of the particularly elegant and tall bridges, strange cathedrals dedicated to the automobile.
This is an eye-opening recreation of the colonial period 1600s English colony that existed at the joining spot of the Appomatox and James Rivers below Richmond, Virginia.
In a way it is akin to a mini-Williamsburg, it combines recreated buildings and period clothing on employes who demonstrate the skills of the colonial era, both the Native American and the British. Skinning and tanning hides, gathering crops, and building the homes they lived in.
As one of the men working there explained to me, they have plans for adding much to the village, and have done their best to imitate what was "then" in the "now."
If possible, they use the actual recreated tools of the time to build things. An amazing effort at historical accuracy.
