Fred The Clown by Roger Langridge

Fantagraphics published the Fred The Clown collection in 2004. The Langridge character is akin to silent movie comedy in some ways, and indie comic / underground comics in most other ways. The artwork is precise and Langridge keeps the tone going all the way through this 192 page volume.

One of the most interesting elements of the book is Langridge's phony history of Fred the Clown, drawing him in various styles: Krazy Kat style, Marvel Comics style, even Katzenjammer Kids style. It is a real achievement of skill.
