Comic Book Brain Special Oversize Page
Frank Quitely Batman and Robin page from issue #2
[Below] Frank Quitely is a darling among superhero fans for several good reasons. He's got a sense of spacial perspective that is old school illustration, and he renders with a careful sense of detail to bodies, clothing and anything else in a panel.
He also does the opposite of the Jim Lee acolytes who fill a panel with objects - - Quitely is conspicuous by how much he leaves out while still having a background (versus leaving a big blank open space like so many superhero artists do, as if the characters are on a modernist theatre stage).
To round it off he has an understated page design skill that relies upon the "letterbox" style panel that also adds to the sense of physical expansion Quitely builds his superhero worlds with.
The Alex Sinclair coloring is first class and is a whole level of artistry adding to the page.
