Alex Toth page from "White Devil... Yellow Devil!"

DC Comics 1972

From Star Spangled War Stories #164, DC Comics 1972 cover date.

A prime example of Toth's storytelling skills from the 1970s. Alex Toth took Kanigher's "All Quiet on the Eastern Front" riff and blew it up into something more. He uses shadow effects from the vegetation to create a maze-like atmosphere within the unnamed Pacific island where young Toshiro faces off against an American marine.
