Alex Nino Weird War Tales #13 (Page 2)

DC Comics 1972

The script by Arnold Drake uses a plot mechanism that was repeated in many other stories during the run of Weird War Tales: a commanding officer (or ruler) ends up disguised as a regular soldier (or refugee, as in this tale) and finds out what it is like to be on the recieving end of all the mayhem and bloodshed caused by powermad leaders.

Nino has a loose and smooth cartoon styling. His word balloons were unique in that they reverberate with alternating line widths, something rarely done in comics where uniformity of the container holding the written text is almost universal.
