ANTIQUE FARMALL TRACTOR OF THE OZARKS

Wednesday, May 7, 2008

I'm not certain, but I suspect this Farmall brand tractor is of a mid-1930s vintage. If you inspect the enlarged tractor photographs you can see there has been some minor changes from what must have been the original configuration, but otherwise it's a rusty window into an era when nearly half the country lived and worked on farms, and these metal behomeths (and this is actually a small tractor, it looks like a miniature version of some of the larger Farmall* brand machines) were built to withstand a lot of pounding over countryside while doing the limitless chores that goes into making a farm function. And its a pretty good looking machine, too. Notice the off-center design when you see the larger images.

* Farmall was a brand name for "row crop" tractors built by the International Harvester company begun in 1924. Originally painted grey, the brand switched to red in the mid-30s. You can see a shiny red "restored" Farmall that's quite similar to the one in my photographs over at farmallparts.com
