ART DECO ON FRIDAY
[Below] A 1925 poster by F. C. Ferrick. The type usage and the general design could (almost) be from anytime in the last 20 years, though the brush work in the illustration itself is in the classic, feathery style of that era. See an enlargement here.
HOLLYWOOD DECO GOTHIC

[Above] Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff from the 1934 movie "Black Cat." The movie is a time capsule of early thirties deco excess, though with the emphasis all on the dark side of the style.

The Gothic look for the 1935 movie Bride of Frankenstein
is full of Deco lines and circles, with some cribbed
German expression tossed in for effect.
