"50 Greatest Comic Characters"
Batman, Superman, etc, Duke it out in rankings
Empireonline.com is a UK site dedicated to film, but they have quite a little bit of comic book related material. For example they have a "50 Greatest Comic Book Characters" feature which has the more or less usual suspects, except (understandably) British characters have a lot more sway in the rankings (for example, Judge Dredd hits #7, something the character wouldn't accomplish in a singularly USA ranking).
Here's their "Top 10" from their 50 'Greatest' list:

2. Batman
3. John Constantine
4. Wolverine
5. Spiderman |

The one surprise I had was seeing guess-who at #49:
