More beautiful pen work by Robert Lawson of Ferdinand fame.
Besides the usual use of repeating thin lines to create grey shade, Lawson uses solid blacks which help create depth, roundness and a balance of white to black. The combination of the various simple techniques seems to generate a sense of color despite its actual absence.
